Rebecca Abirached

Rebecca graduated from UConn in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences. As an undergraduate, she completed an internship in the laboratory at Bridgeport Hospital, where she gained early clinical experience through both benchwork and regulatory tasks. She is now an ASCP-certified Medical Laboratory Scientist working in the core lab at Bridgeport Hospital’s Milford Campus.

During her time at UConn, Rebecca was involved in iGEM, the university’s genetic engineering club, and conducted research as a member of the Scanlon Lab at UConn Health. These experiences provided her with hands-on training in both wet and dry lab techniques and deepened her interest in molecular diagnostics.
Rebecca is excited to build on her current background through the Health Care Genetics Professional Science Master’s program. She is particularly interested in how molecular testing is transforming early diagnosis and disease monitoring in clinical settings. She sees the PSM program as an ideal opportunity to sharpen her technical skills, address emerging challenges in laboratory medicine, and engage in educational outreach.
