Working Towards Genetic Literacy

Laboratory Experience and Diagnostic Genetics Education (LEDGE)

LEDGE is a program designed for middle and high school students to learn about genetics and meet skilled professionals in the field. In short, the goals of the workshop are to teach young students about the techniques of clinical, or diagnostic, genetics while also exposing them to potential career options. While we encourage individuals of all backgrounds to join us for the program, we particularly invite young women to increase the recruitment and retention of females pursuing STEM careers. As such, many of our professionals invited to the program will be women in genetics. Additionally, there will be a weekly spotlight detailing the life and achievements of a prominent woman scientist. Scientific advancements will not occur without the brainpower of people from all walks of life!
