This page outlines the essential academic and programmatic policies for current students in the Health Care Genetics Professional Science Master’s (PSM) Program at UConn. Students are expected to review and adhere to all program, Graduate School, and University policies throughout their time in the program.

Program-Specific Procedures

  • Plan of Study
    All students must submit a Plan of Study before completing 18 credits. A template and guidance are available on the Student SharePoint site (NetID login required).
  • Internship / Capstone Project
    All students must complete a supervised professional experience. Learn more about project expectations, enrollment options (ISG 5091, 5099, GRAD 5930, ISG 5496), and required paperwork here.
  • Satisfactory Academic Progress
    Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate progress toward degree completion. Failure to meet standards may result in probation or dismissal per Graduate School policy.
  • Independent Study & Electives
    Independent study courses must be approved in advance using the appropriate forms and learning contracts. Some elective courses require instructor consent.
