Martha Keagle is a faculty member in the Diagnostic Genetic Sciences Program at the University of Connecticut. She received her undergraduate education at Cornell University in Genetics and Development, and her graduate education at the University of Vermont in Organizational, Counseling, and Foundational Studies. She has extensive experience in cytogenetics as a technologist, laboratory supervisor, and educator.

Nationally she served six years on the Board of Directors of the National Credentialing Agency (NCA), one as vice-president, and concurrently on the Council of Representatives of the Association of Genetic Technologists (AGT); six years as the Director of Education on the AGT Board of Directors; three years as AGT’s President Elect, President and Past President; and on numerous national committees and taskforces. She co-editedPrinciples of Clinical Cytogenetics which is a standard reference in the cytogenetics world and is in its 3rd edition (2013). She also co-edited the 2nd edition of The Cytogenetics Symposia.

In 2006 she received the first Joseph Waurin Award for Excellence in Teaching Award, and in 2012 she received the Outstanding Achievement Award (the highest honor bestowed in the profession for a lifetime of contribution to the field of laboratory genetics), both from the Association of Genetic Technologists.
