   1. meets certain predetermined professional standards
   2. is current or contemporary
   3. provides for health and safety of the students and faculty in the program
2. Validates that the DGS Program meets same standards as other accredited competitors and distinguishes the program from those that are not accredited
3. Demonstrates that the DGS Program is worthy of support by interested individuals in form of time, money and commitment
