The Clinical Semester

After all necessary courses are in agreement with the scholastic standards of the DGS program, students partake in a 6-month internship at one of the affiliated sites corresponding to his or her concentration (cytogenetics or molecular… or both with an additional semester). During the student’s clinical placement he or she will be professionally trained in cytogenetic and molecular diagnostic clinical techniques, which include Suspension Cell Culture, Harvest, & Analysis, Attached Cell Culture, Harvest, & Analysis, Molecular Cytogenetic Techniques, Specimen Processing, Nucleic Acid Isolation, and Amplification Methods respectively.
